Job Advertisement: Women Empowerment Officer

Job Overview: Mirror of Hope CBO is seeking a dedicated and passionate Women Empowerment Officer to lead the implementation of empowerment activities within the women’s SILC groups. This role focuses on business mentorship, capacity building, and fostering gender equality. The successful candidate will work closely with the SILC Project Officer and the Men Empowerment Officer to ensure that women’s empowerment initiatives are integrated within the broader SILC project.
Key Responsibilities
- Women Empowerment Project Implementation
- Design and implement women-focused initiatives within the SILC project.
- Support the formation and activities of women’s SILC groups.
- Facilitate capacity-building activities, including training on financial literacy, income-generating activities (IGAs), problem-solving, and business management.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to women entrepreneurs.
- Foster gender equality by creating a supportive environment for women’s active participation in decision-making and economic empowerment.
- Training & Capacity Building
- Organize and deliver training sessions and workshops for women on various skills.
- Support women in overcoming challenges related to business development, financial management, and social norms.
- Collaborate with the Men Empowerment Officer to ensure gender-sensitive approaches.
- Monitoring, Documentation & Reporting
- Monitor the progress of women’s groups, ensuring they meet project milestones and objectives.
- Document the impact of women’s empowerment initiatives through case studies, success stories, and lessons learned.
- Prepare regular reports on project progress, challenges, and results.
- Safeguarding & Gender Mainstreaming
- Ensure all empowerment activities adhere to the organization’s gender equality and safeguarding policies.
- Create a safe and supportive environment for women to share their experiences and seek guidance.
Educational Background
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in social sciences, Gender Studies, Community Development, Business Administration, or a related field.
Experience
- 3-5 years of experience in women’s empowerment, community development, or a related field.
- Experience in project management and implementation of community-based programs.
- Proven track record in capacity building and training facilitation.
- Experience working with Savings and Internal Lending Communities (SILC) or similar microfinance initiatives is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of gender equality and women’s rights issues.
- Experience in mentorship and business development support for women entrepreneurs.
